June 2021
Connect for Action St Vrain 2021

A small group of local artists, scientists and participants gathered at Golden Ponds Nature Area in Longmont for an early version of our first St. Vrain Water Dance event. We guided participants on a one-mile walking loop, stopping along the way at the ponds and the St. Vrain Creek for storytelling, dances, contemplative time, and intimate conversation about our personal relationships with water. Each choreographer chose the specific spot for their dance. Conversations with engineers and watershed scientists deepened our understanding of the sites. This event also aligned with the international, biennial Global Water Dances project (globalwaterdances.org) where dancers worldwide danced for water on the same day.

This work was supported by the Office of Outreach and Engagement at CU Boulder and the Boulder County Arts Alliance and emerged as a part of the Art+Science+Action Partnerships Cohort.
