Global Water Dances

Global Water Dances is an internationally recognized initiative that mobilizes artists as leaders in the conversation about protecting water. Choreographers in over 100 locations across six continents organize FREE, interdisciplinary community events on the same day, resulting in thousands of people across the globe learning about and dancing for water all at the same time. Global Water Dances uses MOVEMENT to celebrate water, raise awareness of local and global water crises, and lead meaningful community building that supports all participants to find agency and voice in a collaborative message for change.

I directed an event for Global Water Dances for every bi-annual global event since 2011, all but one in Boulder County.

I am honored to serve on the Steering Committee for this incredible project!

Stories from the St Vrain (2021-2023) was a Longmont-based art, science, and community health project celebrating the human and environmental stories of St Vrain Creek. In 2024, it grew into Colorado Water Stories. In 2023, over 100 people gathered to celebrate water through through performances & community conversations. This video features excerpts from all of our performers. An incredible collaboration: Elisa Garcia, MiChantli, NatureMoves, Constance Harris, Dandelion Arts Collective, Dexter Payne, Jessie Manno, Oliver Jacobson, and all of our volunteers.

2021: Stories from the St Vrain
(post-pandemic pilot project)
St Vrain Creek at Golden Ponds Nature Area
Longmont, CO

Stories from the St Vrain (2021-2023) was a Longmont-based art, science, and community health project celebrating the human and environmental stories of St Vrain Creek. In 2021, we piloted the idea of setting a variety of performances along a walking trail. We invited a small audience to test our ideas, and plan what turned into a 100-person event in 2023. This event was featured in Boulder as part of a celebration of the work from the inaugural Arts + Science facilitator 9-month training.

2019: Solo with Baby in Arms (not recorded)

2017: Water Connects Us All

Dance artists collaborated with community non-profits Engineers Without Borders (Rocky Mountain Professional Chapter) and Maji Safi Group to host an interactive and educational performance event. Video features a water engineering game. Thank you to my artistic collaborators including NatureMoves.

2013: Global Water Dances
Boulder Reservoir
Boulder, CO

My first Global Water Dances event! Created in the span of 3 weeks, during graduate school, with some incredible dancers. Shout out to Peg Posnick who was in my 2025 event, too! We danced with live drums and got the crowd up and moving. Who knew it was the start of more than a decade of water dances! *Fun fact: I met my now-husband the night after this performance!
