Coal Creek Water Dances Workshop
Sunday, May 3, 2026 ~ 10:00am - 1:00pm
Public Road Trailhead
Lafayette, CO, 80026

Step into slowing down, allow inner awareness to magnify, and invite your body into a dance with Water. Along the banks of Coal Creek, we will tune into mystery, expression, and the more-than-human world and see what kind of dance emerges from this connection. This workshop blends free-form movement, journaling/drawing, deep sensory awareness, and solo and group activities. No dance or writing experience needed.

Workshop outline:

  • Welcome & Embodied arrival

  • Brief theoretical grounding

  • Movement practices

  • Solo time with the Creek, option to wade in/get wet!

  • Space to reflect through writing/drawing/contemplation

  • Moving together in community

Come spend time with your body, the water, your creativity, and mystery - in community with each other - and see what unfolds. Let your breath in, soften your skin, awaken to your waters, grow roots as you step, and dance.

Workshop participants have an optional opportunity to participate in an informal performance/sharing - alongside invited guests - that follows the workshop. Today's events are a collaboration between Lafayette's Friends of Coal Creek and Longmont's Colorado Water Stories Project, with roots in the Global Water Dances Project that celebrates & educates about water.

Participants must be age 16 or older.

$36/person.

Workshop is presented by Friends of Coal Creek.
