This all-level class combines free form movement and classical approaches for training the body drawn from the vast world of modern dance. Themes of class connect with cycles in nature, interwoven with movement to awaken the brain-body connection, build strength, expand mobility, encourage free expression, reinforce memory, and deepen connection. Nature is regularly called into the studio to inspire movement exploration, and music from around the world is the soundtrack. The studio becomes an intentional space designed to support opening the portals of body and spirit.
Class typically includes:
Breath awareness ~ Alignment practice ~ Floor work ~ Free-form/freestyle/improvisation ~ Follow-along, synchronized movement ~ Footwork and rhythmic patterns ~ Variety of movement tempos from stillness to aerobic ~ Dancing with others / as a class community
Wednesdays
MODERN DANCE: Expression & Freedom
WEDNESDAYS 12-1:15pm ONGOING
(No class 11/25)
@ UNAVIDA Niwot, 7960 Niwot Road B-12
This open-level class uses principles and practices that have emerged from a wide variety of modern dance styles. Class begins with breath and slow movement to awaken the brain-body connection, which in turn supports grounding and centering. We continue moving back and forth between freestyle and form, with a blend of approaches designed to build strength and flexibility, open free expression, reinforce memory, and connect with self, nature, and the wider community. We use music from around the world and lots of nature imagery to help open the portals of body and spirit.

CONTINUING ADULT DANCE CLASSES
10:15-11:15am JAZZ
11:30-12:30pm TAP
@ Dance Dimensions, 638 Main Street, Longmont, CO 80501
Enjoy a true technique class? This is it!
Jazz class starts with a center warm-up, a short stretch, moving across the floor, then finishes with playful choreography emphasizing musicality and style. We spend a handful of weeks on each combination so you have the chance to learn the details and really dance it out!
In Tap class we train the body to be loose and articulate. We hone our technique, learn new tap steps, practice popular steps (time steps!) to keep them in our embodied repertoire, and then have fun learning routines. Tap is excellent for building coordination, enhancing memory, and having so much fun. Come for one or the other, or stay and enjoy both classes. These classes are open to all with prior dance experience (intermediate level). These Thursday classes are for everyone, and, they are especially designed for the Aging and Active (no floor work, turns are always optional). If you're over 65 and want to be with peers in a super welcoming dance environment - come and join us! Whatever your age, you are invited and welcome :)

In Swing Dance, you will learn East Coast Swing from scratch. East Coast Swing is the most popular style of Swing Dance, danced to jazz, country, pop, and more. We'll begin with the basic steps, how to hold a partner, finding the beat, and connecting the dance and music together. By the end of 4 weeks, you will have a series of moves that you can bring to any dance floor! All levels are welcome, though we will start from the beginning. No partner necessary to register.
In Salsa Dance, we'll start at the very beginning with the basic steps, rhythm, and how to hear the music. Next is how to hold your dance partner and learning the lead and follow skills that make this dance work. We will add in Latin styling as the class progresses to support you looking smooth. By the end of 4 weeks, you will have a series of moves that you can bring to any dance floor! All levels are welcome, though we will start from the beginning. No partner necessary to register.
